St. Athanasius & St. Catherine's Academy in Kansas City, MO is seeking part-time teachers who are passionate about Catholic education and forming young minds in truth and virtue.
Each position is part-time for the upcoming school year. All roles are 1099 independent contractor positions. We welcome applicants who love their subject and want to share it with our students.
Teach courses in Catholic theology and Sacred Scripture, helping students encounter the truth of the Faith and develop a deeply formed Christian worldview. This early-morning class meets each school day.
Guide students through the study of living organisms, fostering wonder at God's creation through labs, discussion, and a curriculum rooted in scientific truth.
Lead chemistry courses including instruction and lab work, helping students understand the material world through the lens of order and discovery. Shares the same time slot as Biology — a strong candidate could potentially cover both.
Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support across subjects. Scheduling is highly flexible — tutoring is needed at various times throughout the day and could potentially be as little as one morning per week depending on the candidate's availability.
A single candidate may be considered for more than one opening. For example, Biology and Chemistry share the same 2:50 PM time slot, so one person with expertise in both sciences could cover them on alternating days. Theology at 8:00 AM could pair well with afternoon tutoring. If you have breadth across areas, we encourage you to express interest in all that fit — combining roles can create a more substantial part-time schedule.
Pay for each position is competitive and comparable to adjunct professor rates at small colleges. We value our faculty and believe fair compensation reflects that. Combined positions naturally increase overall pay.
All teaching positions are 1099 independent contractor roles, not W-2 employee positions. This means you have flexibility in how you manage your work while being responsible for your own taxes. This arrangement is common for adjunct and part-time academic roles at the collegiate level.

A four-year degree in the relevant subject area or a closely related field or professional experience in the subject area may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
Candidates need to be able to be physically on campus for these positions. We are a low tech environment and believe strongly in the value of face to face in person settings.
A genuine enthusiasm for your subject and a desire to ignite that same love in students.
Willingness to teach in harmony with the Catholic faith and the mission of the academy.
Ability to explain concepts clearly and engage students in thoughtful discussion.
A state teaching certificate is not required. We value subject mastery and the ability to teach over formal credentials.
